Website incredibly slow?

I've noticed this over the last couple of weeks. Every time the guest numbers are up above 2500.

@Fred, is there a way to limit the number of concurrent guest logins?

If that is true, we're to blame. As more and more of us - me including - are testing AIs to get PureBasic ideas done, the AIs are buckling up to get smarter in this respect It might be a good thing in the end...

The problem has occurred sporadically for a few days.

But now it's almost a permanent condition.
Currently 10-15 seconds loading time.

Well, first Fred has to identify the problem. Is it a bot that's stuck somewhere, or an attack?

Cloudflare is perhaps too overkill (and annoying), in my opinion it should be the last solution.

• Is a simple /Disallow in the "robots.txt" enough?
• or a simple rule in the ".htaccess" file?
• or maybe even just a setting / mod from the forum.
• Maybe it's just a bug in the forum, and an upgrade to a current version is enough?
• Or does the host have a problem?

There is a lot of simultaneous requests coming from a lot of IP, so nothing we can really do about it, wait'n'see
