video chat and voice chat

is it possible to make a video and voice chat program in purebasic??If so would it take alot of resources from the computer
pentium 90mhz, 32mb ram, 1mb video ram, 1gb hd, windows 95.
If it can run on mine it can run on anything

Very possible, I am working on such a thing right now (for conferencing reasons), but I am using the person's webcam, and directx for the individual users. Just need to take a picture, send the picture, take a picture, send a picture :) works good on lan, sucks on the net if you want decent fps. Ah, I havent figured out audio transferring and capturing from a mic, yet.

with your equipment you are able to automacally translate your voice in any other language on the fly, while watching any DVD in a high precision on your 14" display. good luck with on the fly compressions :)

I tried to do a search on the net for something like this, but it seems it's very hard to find somethingn usefull...
I guess most commercial software doing this relies on internal algorithms made in-house... :roll:

So you'd better build your own!!! :twisted: hehe..

but seriously.. perhaps if you do a more extensive search than I did, you might come across some technical documents or if you're lucky, a .dll that you can use...
