Ok, here's the best I could do for a plane. Never did a plane before either. On the turret, I would make it stick out a little further. You can see the back of it when you level it horizontal.

My FPS has jumped to 59/60!

Runs smoothly with movement keys in use and firing bursts of shots at the same time.

Nice. And Nice graphics!

Barrel might need to be hinged a little further back (drawing shifted right a few pixels?) because at lowest depression the back can be seen.

Ok I have updated the link once again.

What I want to know is your framerate before and after you press "S" on your keyboard. Mine is a steady 75 no matter what I do to the game.

Frame rate mostly 59/60, dropping infrequently to 58/59

Pressing S had no obvious effect on the frame rate. But my tank! 8O :?

:)

Saw the effects with S.

BTW, on firing there is a reddish flash effect from the muzzle, but no visible smoke. Is this what you intended?

Also barrel's bum doesn't stick out anymore. Things are shaping up!

The red is supposed to be fire.... I am a good enough programmer to morph it to smoke... (I wish I could tho.)

When running in fullscreen, the animation is synchronized to the actual refresh rate. So you have 75fps if you have a 75hz screen etc..

fred, i beg to disagree :-) my screen refresh rate is set to 100, my cpu is idling away, and yet framerates appears to hit a ceiling due to some reason... interestingly, benchmarks using 3dmarkxxx show that it is not a cpu or graphic card issue, it appears drivers / settings can make quite some difference... (i noticed the nvidia drivers can even report a different refresh rate back to the software opposed to the actual screen refresh rate)

unfortunately, i don' have a machine with a radeon at hand so i could swap cards to check... perhaps later...

Change your desktop resolution to 800x600 first. Then specify 100 Hertz in Display Properties->Settings->Advanced->Monitor. Then run the code and you will probably see a different result.

This is because DirectX has a default refresh rate which is used for any screen modes that are different from the current desktop resolution.

If you run dxdiag.exe there is an option on the "More Help" tab to override this default refresh rate. But it's probably best to leave this alone unless you are certain that your monitor can handle this refresh rate for all resolutions.

(Also your nvidia card's properties (in Display Properties->Settings->Advanced) might have a "Refresh Rate Overrides" page where you can specify a different refresh rate for each screen mode)

Ok I have a few questions, can anyone think of a good name for the game? Also, I am taking a vote, how many people would prefer the game in a windowed mode?
