Why would you want to run Linux anyway if you don't even know how to add a boot parameter (not meant by bad, and I respect you as a person, so please don't feel bad) ?

Yes, i was expecting a windows kind of install.

After several linux versions tried you may expect the weirdest behaviour yes like the one you mentioned?
It says ... (forgot) or press enter:
Who will expect it is also expecting additional commands like installgui?
Why is in't mentioned or a simple selection thingy?

With all these kind of distributions they are not clever and they seem to expect Linux experts or at least people following them from year 0?

For example the 24 bit color issue for ubuntu totally sucks.
No Windows version will load > VGA (until they are really sure about the screen adaptor.
O well this might be a misinterpretation since it it runs on VPC..
The issue is, try a safer screen setting first?

And then.. the solutions you have to do.
No no-brainer like me would ever figure it out, so only searching the internet can be a solution but then, friendly??

I would expect easier installs after so much years and so many distro's..

OK, finally ready, your command only seems to invoke a gui for installation process, not a desktop!!

Yeah Debians installgui is for installing to a hard disk (in you case a virtual one), you actually don't have to use it and you could use the normal installer by pressing ennter, it's as simple as with windows, most times even a lot simpler. I don't know why you are having so many problems with Ubuntu, it's probably bad luck. However, nobody can tell that it's hard to install, nothing's easier than installing Ubuntu.
I mean it's putting the CD in booting the liveCD (which shows you wether the hardware is likely to be usable) and clicking on the install icon. I mean especially in a Virtual Machine it must work, your not the only one trying and there shouldn't be any hardware issues.

As a side node, I'm a Ubuntu user on my Notebook and Admin on a Debian Sarge Server, and I started using linux only 1 1/2 years ago. Today I also have a iMac as probably the most beautiful incarnation of Unix and I must say, now I wouldn't switch a Unix Box wether that be Linux, FreeBSD, *BSD or OS X for a Windows System even if the Unix would cost me twice as much. However thanks the Free Software community I don't need to pay anything for getting the better Operating System.

It's not that trivial for some of us.

You see!!

http://www.hellobasic.com/images/debian1.png

I think it's because i choose not to use mirror stuff and have (will) no access to internet.
Keep this in mind so... what complete iso do i need to download MANUALLY to have these extra stuff available during install?

Geesh.. up until now I didn't know of any other person who is like you
Don't be afraid, I was just as a n00b as you are now, but before 4 years when I first tried Linux..

Download this one:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekl ... 6-CD-1.iso

You will get Gnome with the above one, but if you prefer KDE or XFCE, here are the corresponding files:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekl ... e-CD-1.iso
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/weekl ... e-CD-1.iso
