What kind of Computer do you have? For virtualisation you probably need >2.4 ghz. If you want to sneak int Linux a little fatser you could try a LiveCD like Knoppix or the Ubuntu install CD which works as a LiveCD as well, this however isn't good if you want to install software on it. Here Ubuntu 6.10 runs perfectly in VirtualBox both under Ubuntu itself and Windows, you also need to check you've got the newest virtualBox version since there was a bug in a previous verson whcih lead to problems with Ubuntu and others.

Why Ubuntu? Debian is far more better, and after all, Ubuntu is Debian based. I got a daily-build of Debian Etch to work very happily with VPC 2007. Get Debian @ http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/

The link you posted leads to the Debian Sarge images page.. and Sarge is going to be deprecated. Etch is the way to go.
You need this file:
http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/daily ... etinst.iso
When booting it up with a virtual machine, enter this as a boot parameter and fire up the installer:
installgui
Good Luck!

It's goddammit very easy: Fire up the damn VPC 2007, create a virtual machine, then after creating the virtual machine, start it, then from the VPC Menu, choose CD and then Capture ISO and then choose the Debian ISO file.. now Reset the virtual machine if needed, you will get to a black screen with a red Debian logo, write installgui and hit ENTER.Edwin Knoppert wrote:Sorry but i got soooo annoyed.
WHEN do i need to set this param.
I really don't understand this crap is not a gui install by default.
I can imagne linux is not becomming popular!
If you know how to bake a cake with your eyes and feet tied and having a weasel lick your stomach, then you know how to use Debian..
I see that you don't know nearly anything of Linux.. not meant by bad. BUT THIS IS UBUNTU's FAULT! Ubuntu is made to be like any other desktop OS, making it a beast which shouldn't even come near the Linux country! Because of this, excited "Linux" users would like to start test the other distributions, like Gentoo, Fedora, Debian, etc.. BUT THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING.
I had a bad day so don't wonder if some of my comments are way too off.
