my newest "music"..

Post by thefool »

http://thefool.bradan.net/Daniel%20M%20 ... ision1.mp3

hi :)
This is the newest of the stuff i have done. It needs some remixing and redoing stuff; critics are absolutely welcome as i am a begginer and would like to know what to make different :)

stuff i know:

-the vocals arent that good; i have a cold and the "nasal" sounds are a bit hard to pronounce; and my voice is a bit unrough atm..
-redo vocals; there is too much noice and a mic clicking on and off.
-redo the lead..
-THE ENDING IS HORRIBLE! i havent put a second work in it.
-shorter intro time?

however this is again just some testing i have done :)
thanks for listening..

It's good but it's not music I would listen to. :P

Hi,

Well done. But there are some things I want to tell you as constructive critics (everything is only my opinion):

The song is missing some structure. Is there a refrain or something recogniceable and repeating? I recognice an intro, some chords, an interlude and a part with the lead melody. Maybe you can give the song more structure?

Beginning at 01:06 and 03:00 the hihat is sounding like a metronome. Try working with different velocity-values in the hihat-groove. Or try some open/closed hihat-scheme.

The bridge-noise from 01:51 is to loud and sounds much to 'sharp'. Try some lowpass-filter.

The effects (02:05 and later) are sometimes to loud and maybe you like to do them more 'artificial' using some more reverb, echo and modulation?

As you wrote, the lead melody needs a bit more work. There is no melody that is remarkable. Try to find a more simple melody.

But don't understand me wrong. The music is not bad. I like this tune. It is not exactly my kind of music so don't concern to much.

regards,

Kukulkan

However, besides rock i only listen thefool's music and Kraftwerk. Really. I don't like any other stuff :P.

I agree. The song structure is one of those things one has to learn.
Beginning at 01:06 and 03:00 the hihat is sounding like a metronome. Try working with different velocity-values in the hihat-groove. Or try some open/closed hihat-scheme.
Yeah i will have a look at that.
The bridge-noise from 01:51 is to loud and sounds much to 'sharp'. Try some lowpass-filter.
Yeah i had a problem; the compressor kicks out there. There is an "enourmous" ammout of compression on this whole track and when the bassdrum and the bass itself stops; the strings are winded up. I got to make a lowpass filter kick in before then;
The effects (02:05 and later) are sometimes to loud and maybe you like to do them more 'artificial' using some more reverb, echo and modulation?
Yeah; what you hear at 2:26 is a resonance part of a lowpass cut filter im using.
As you wrote, the lead melody needs a bit more work. There is no melody that is remarkable. Try to find a more simple melody.
Yeah i know; especially second part!
But don't understand me wrong. The music is not bad. I like this tune. It is not exactly my kind of music so don't concern to much.
No you had some nice comments :)

Hi,

nice tune - IMHO the instruments are a bit dry (meaning: more effects could be used). Otherwise nice tune! Is it possible to get a grip on the source to make a remix?

Here are some of my tunes:
Weird Man Dancing
Levas Polka (remix)
Space Rider
Push Me
