I've used DeleD and it worked just fine!
No problems with the exporter plugin whatsoever....

Cause this enables you to create dynamic levels!
Just build a bunch of prefabs (rooms, corridors, etc) and puzzle them in the level... Just think they are boxes and think 2d for the map!
Lego level building
This is where scripting languages come into use!
Just script the entire level in an external script and parse it when loading the level...

Flohimself has a nice LUA lib available for embedding LUA. You might like to look at that to see if that fits your needs.
