ups for telephony?
I have fiber connection at home with no rack (Europe, Greece). I have a ZTE router and a Nokia fiber device. I want to buy a ups to support both devices. I have seen this one, but it supports one device, I will have to buy two of them. I would like to buy one ups for both devices as I they are in plain site and want as minimum mass as possible. Any suggestions?
Re: ups for telephony?
yes need two of them
since it can output max 15watt, (1,5amp) which is a limit for practically all routers .. no extra device
and because ONT ( the nokia device you mentiom) is an extra device, will work at its limis and possible unstable
using anokie device point me to think you are using cosmote, cosmote has routers with ONT built in, but dont know if they charge you to replace
in new connections in office they ask, if we want separate device, like yours, or all-in-one

Yes, Cosmote is my ISP. The 15W ups I mentioned in just an example of what I am looking for. I 've seen ups with 30W but supporting one device only. I would like to buy one ups, 30W or greater, that can support both of my devices, if there is any.plouf wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 8:09 am yes need two of them

Re: ups for telephony?
"2200 mAh * 4" + "15W" + "2.0A / 5V, 1.0A / 12V"
1.0A/12V/12W/12VA will do around 8.5hr if you ignore duty cycle and any type of over/under charge protection the firmware may have.
I have an APC BX1500M that uses a 24v 9AH battery and does 1500VA. it'll run my 1Gbps modem and 5Gbps AP around a couple days. When I bought it, it was the UPS with the most AH you could get without going industrial where you needed a grid of deep cycles..
Most 1Gbps+ Modems and AP use around 12VA
BTW if you're annoyed by the use of VA over W your UPS shopping experience is going to be miserable. They changed the naming just to keep consumers confused and reliable on sales people..

Re: ups for telephony?
You can split the power to two devices by using the below, but only if the total power of the devices is within the limit of the battery backup device. The 15w output is perhaps not quite enough, but you can check the consumption of the devices you have and add them up. A simple router will have a very low consumption well within that range, but for wireles LAN it might add quite a bit.doctorized wrote: Fri Jan 31, 2025 4:34 pm ]this one[/url], but it supports one device, I will have to buy two of them. Re: ups for telephony?
The same vendor sales a 30W same form factor but is still 8800mAH for some reason
https://lamtech.gr/en/product/lamtech-m ... 2v-output/
They also sale standard UPS, biggest being to 3000VA, but it has 4x 9AH batteries which beats APC brand.
https://lamtech.gr/en/product/lamtech-u ... rj45-port/
Their standard UPS stuff is all 200V+, and since it's EU market with no listed price I'm assuming it's all way over priced.
Regarding divider cable: "2.0A / 5V, 1.0A / 12V" If that's regulated in firmware you're going to get extremely slow charging and under-current. If it's not you're going to empty the UPS in less than half the time, and since the battery probably has a discharge-rate limit the UPS will probably need a battery replacement after a few uses..
