Years ago on several occasions I used a JaPBe built-in tool to help do design layout of a window and gadgets in the window, but I can't find that tool now, or even remember what it was called. Does anyone remember that tool? Don't know iI it's the one I was looking for but I see "Visual Designer plugin" under the tools list but nothing happens when I try to open it.

In the IDE choose Form->New Form
Maybe HeXOrs Dialog Designer is a better choice:

Ok... Thanks infratec,
I'll give it a look over. He comments it creates xmls so I'm not quite sure what that means or if I can use it.

I can't seem to find a gadget selection. Does that come with a user manual?

PureFORM << That's the Ticket!!!
YES! Thank You
Slight problem -- all the download links are old and not valid far as I can tell.
BUT!! -- I searched my system for "pureform" using my "everything" (freeware) utility and viola!! Found it instantly in a zip file so I extracted to my plugins folder and again, Viola! THat's it!! Ohhh yess. Back in business now.

Pureform unfortunately it is not compatible with the new versions of purebasic, its author has literally disappeared without a trace, without releasing the sources etc.... currently the options that come closest are Icedesign and Purevision, they cost money but are worth every single one cent, personally I have both but I feel better with Icedesign, then it's all a question of habit..

Not a problem. I'm pretty much stuck with PB v5.x until someone comes up with an update to JaPBe to work with later releases of PB.

Upload it to any file exchanger to view your magic editor.

IceDesign looks really complicated/sophisticated. PureFORM meets my needs and besides that, its free. After spending 3 months SS income on this Zenbook I'm not interested in spending cash on anything I don't have to. Really happy You helped me find it. I would be so lost without the generosity of users in this forum. Thanks Guys (and girls if there are any out there).

Yes, Dialogs are defined in xml files, you never "played" with Dialogs? =>

But you need some time to get your brain wired into it
Here is a rough video tutorial =>

Sorry to hear that IceDesign sounds complicated to you!
Keeping it simple and user-friendly was one of the most important points for me, as was having the generated code always operational right out of the box.
Maybe I'm too inside it and what seems simple to me, may not be for others.
It would be interesting for me if you could tell me what seems complicated to you ?
Have you tried the demo version?
Everything works the same as for the paid version, it's just limited to 16 Gadgets and it's really enough for many, many interfaces.
I'm not specifically trying to sell it to you, it's just a complementary tool and you have to be convinced of its usefulness to buy it.
Well, you're lucky to have a lot of good tools around, free or paid, classic or dialogs interface, to make your choice.
Take the time to choose what suits you best.

I find IceDesign is 0 (zero) complicated

but... yeah different users have different points of view

I think he should give it a chance anyway.
