Mine are: PureBasic (of course) OE Classic (email client -- highly similar to Outlook Express) Windscribevpn (VPN client w/free trial -- many global servers & no logging) AnyPassword Pro (password manager) NitroPDF (purchased long ago when price was reasonable)
Everything else can be done manually or with freeware.

I *never* claimed to be a programmer.
Yeah, I did't mention Windows OS, but yeah, I guess it sorta qualifies even if it did come preinstalled on the laptop. I did pay for previous versions and still believe Win XP was best ever, though it did have some shortcomings they could have fixed instead of persuing the later releases. XP was the right base for further development. But that's a whole other rant.

calibre is an e-book library manager. It can view, convert and catalog e-books in most of the major e-book formats. It can also talk to many e-book reader devices. It can go out to the Internet and fetch metadata for your books. It can download newspapers and convert them into e-books for convenient reading. It is cross platform, running on Linux, Windows and macOS.
It can convert all types of documents and formats.
And works in many languages.

I like Bitwig a lot: https://www.bitwig.com/de/
Especially because it runs natively on Linux, has a great community and a lot of cool features and possibilities.
The english grammar is freeware, you can use it freely - But it's not Open Source, i.e. you can not change it or publish it in altered way.

…the list would be long…
I take it there is not a lot of freeware options out there for the MAC.
No, why? I didn't say that! There always existed GREAT freeware for Mac, and now it's often multiplatform!
1st example that comes to my mind: Rogue Amoeba soft (audio stuff); you can almost do it with freeware stuff, but...
Note: Rogue Amoeba stuff is FREE for 10 mins of audio…………

I interpreted "the list would be long" to mean most your software was payware.
