Yes why not, they could have easily used donor parts from other models. We have two old singer machines they still work fine and while ones electric it's almost identical to the non electric.

There is a huge demand for the really old Singer tables. I have restored two of them that were in as bad as shape as that.

Yes , i also think this is true, and much more things like this out there.
To me is admirable, and these kind of things are what make some of us to enjoy and admire this 'silly monkey' that we call 'human'.
And since i know there are TODAY cybernetic systems which performs auto-repair artificial satellites (there are some projects to make satellites to auto-replicate), then, when i watch this kind of things i think about to create robots or so, to perform remanufacturing and restoration of almost anything, which are able to do it as good as in this video, and in the same time or even less
