Re: Another reason Apple sucks
Everyone tries to do that it comes from interest in big data and marketing which stem from revenue acquisition. Google-Android probably has it in some roadmap. Some system service. I think they always have cloud syncing of some data even when you disable sync.
Regarding Apple: I actually thought they were kind of interesting when they were doing PowerPC because I've always liked RISC over CISC and thought RISC would eventually do what Intel/CISC already has before Intel(better micro-architecture and bypass thermal limits with scaling). Now it's quite literally just designer x86 hardware with a designer BSD OS.
I like how they do security though. The top jailbreak teams can't get keys or kernel execution. I own the last gen of iPod touch because it doesn't have a baseband to be tracked but has all the features and performance of iPhone.

Re: Another reason Apple sucks
so if i'm understanding this right it sounds like if you're at a concert there'll be some devices shooting infra-red (or whatever) information to the crowd which can be detected by an iphone, and one of the messages that info can be is "don't record". It's an iPhone patent though so unless they license it out it seems like only iPhone's will be temporarily crippled by such a device? so perhaps all you need to do is simple: use any phone that isn't an iPhone! i wonder if it will be a usermode thing easily cracked.
It will become an interesting situation though if pretty much all major phone manufacturers jumped on board with this! For example i know a lot (most? nearly all?) of printers detect have anti-counterfeit features - some just print plain black or whatever instead of replicating that area, and others print for example tiny yellow dots in a unique way that means everything you print can be traced to your printer like a serial barcode.
To me Apple sucks only because their API isnt as easy or comprehensive as Windows, but that goes for Linux too
ps. I tried to register Visual Studio today, free Community Edition. It seems impossible to do so without 1) a smartphone (can't even use a landline), and 2) the computer using Visual Studio must be connected to the internet!!! What about developers who follow secure practices and don't necessarily keep their dev system online!?!?!? I'm still yet to find an offline registration solution

Just pull the cable when you work on one. Another "mostly secure" solution would be a virtual machine on top of the development machine, but that would be still possible to break, just a lot harder.
Re: Another reason Apple sucks
It's just a patent; doesn't say it will ever be implemented.
To me Windows API feels like a mess.
I remember when I wanted to use a ringbuffer to render continuous sound. A nightmare to figure out what api to use to make something work all the way from XP to Windows 10.
Microsoft often doesn't seem to know what direction to take and changes the chosen direction a lot. You can tell if you look at the different versions of their OS (both desktop and mobile).

Re: Another reason Apple sucks
Well any Apple devices are useless from the beginning, and I don't need any additional reasons to say "Apple sucks" ^^
All It's production is kind of so called "bydlo-devices" (rus), in other words it's full of DRM, vendor-locks and lot of other stupid limitations, and more of it, has very poor functionality and abilities. They did things Windows 10-way far before Windows 10 itself was released.
To be fair, things with google android in 2016 are not much better and doing almost the same. But at least there are many different vendors doing android-based devices, and it is possible to find several nice of them, unlike appe.

There will be marshal law for anyone carrying a device with a image sensor that isn't one of these.. Like all the Android and camera devices that take better video and stills.
I would of just put something in the baseband assuming the concept wasn't completely ineffective in a most obvious way..
