Which AV is best for Purebasic ?

Everything else that doesn't fall into one of the other PB categories.

Which AV is best for Purebasic ?

Post by Zebuddi123 »

Hi to All.

Just recently I have been having problems with win7 x64 ulitmate, in the last 2 months I have had to format and reinstall the OS (always using Linux to delete and format partions etc)
The main problem arises in all instances in the last two months when AVG 2015 (which i use generally) keeps failing to start. My PC becomes unreponsive at the desktop even after system restore and all the other usual tricks i can think of fail to repair.

Of all the other AV`s i have tried with PB its the most forgiving as in pulling up my compiled exe`s. I was wonder what do most of you guy`s use for AV with reagrds to PB ?

Thanks

Zebuddi. :)

While it can be tempting to add your PureBasic executables to your AV's whitelist, or turn off its heuristics, that's actually a bad idea because then you won't be seeing any issues that your users may be getting. In other words, you're sticking your head in the sand while your users are seeing false alerts and panicking. Where's the customer service in that?

Instead, I'm really interested in what Firace has to say here: http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... =7&t=61707

Did you try Microsoft Security Essentials?
Used to use it a few years back when I still had a computer running Windows and never had false positives.
However, some could argue that maybe Microsoft Security Essentials is a placebo

I really feel sorry for the ones that still have to use Windows...

I was thinking... yeah really. ;-)

I still use XP32 with MSE and that seems ok ... until in april the MSE-updates for XP will stop.
As I know what I'm doing on my PC, the only thing that may not happen, is an unknown exe that get's installed.
The only way that could happen and I suppose (in my case), is when I'm on the internet and click something that activates the installproces of such exe.
If that is correct, then for me that AV-program should only need to detect this installproces skip it or give a warning nothing more.
I don't need to install more software, don't need upgrades or updates (which I can't trust), as on my system all works fine to me.

So, does anyone know if there exist such simple AV-program, only having to detect when an installproces of an exe is activated (in my browser).
If not, can anyone point me how to create that (no exe please ;-)) ?

Thanks.
Yeah I know, but keep in mind ... Leonardo da Vinci was also an autodidact.

Hi to all thanks for replying.

Back on Linux and just going to vm windows for the time being see how things go. Just a shame the ide is not as stable on linux as in window. Hopefully the PB Team have time to look at the Linux ide stability issues.
