Thank you, everyone.

Hi guys,

I have not been around for a long time now. But I'm not dead! And I haven't uninstalled PureBasic!
But I just got done slogging through a certain thread up in General Discussion and I wanted to let you all know how I felt. (please do not devolve into that other thread)

I'm don't see myself as a "real" programmer. I don't do it for money, and I often don't find the time or find the interest to crack open my project file, although I am hoping to one day (TextRPG dream will never die). But I have learned a lot of stuff on the forum during my time here, and even though I have forgotten half of it, you guys have always been good to me. You always take the time to try and explain things so that I can understand them, or help me to find a better way of doing something (even if I don't agree in the end).

I love this community very much, as a hobbyist / amateur whatever you want to call it. Nobody has ever made me feel stupid (on purpose), and never treated me as less than an equal even when it is clear I am barely keeping up. That is what makes PureBasic a great language and a great community. It just really pisses me off when people come in and act like they are special! I would never do that, and I don't like it to be done to me.

We are a small community, but I have hope that we will continue to grow in time and become even better than we are. I hope we do get lots of users from other languages to come over, from whatever language and for whatever reason, as it will only make PB stronger!

Buying DarkBASIC was the best thing that ever happened to me - because it lead me to PureBasic!
Don't ever compromise, keep doing what you are doing. Thanks for all your help and support over the past 3 years. 8)

The sad thing is, some people can't see that they have an ego problem and
blame everyone else for cutting them back down to size. They then go off
and badmouth this community everywhere and call *us* rude and juvenile.

Indeed, and I was supportive when he tried to join in 2008, as well. There is always room for third-party tool vendors here. They just need to behave like a grown up and treat others with respect. They also need to drop the gang-banger mentality where they think respect is automatic, when it is really something you earn by the way you treat others. I usually treat people like for like. I am also old-school, if you are picking on a friend, you are picking on me. If I invite you into my home and you cause a scene and abuse my friends, to quote the old Raven song, "Pick Your Window, You're Leaving".

This thread should probably be locked. Best to let the troll stay dead and buried.

Nah, let's just delete our posts until it gets back to Zack's.
We need to do it turns to be successful. Ready? :)

Guys, come on, the other thread has been locked. We said what need to be said there, and probably more.
Now concentrate on the positive message from Zach here.

Indeed, Zach is right. This is truly the best and most talented community I have ever been a part of. Newcomers are ALWAYS welcomed with open arms, even complete newbies to programming. All skill levels are welcome here and have always been encouraged here.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories. ♥️

I'd like to take advantage of the opportunity and give a huge THANK YOU to the community. I've been using PureBasic since 2.50 and dont't want to work without it anymore. Though I'm a more passive member, 'til today this community is a great help and inspiration for me!

Don't take that weird thread recently too serious, Luis is right : everything is said. After taking a look at his product I can say that it's not very interesting for PB users anyway.

Hey man, good to know you're still farting around.
One day the world will make sense and TextRPG will become the worlds first quadruple A title.

I would just like to add my thanks to all the helpful guys here. And remember, keep pushing the envelope - there's always something new to learn and discover.

I'm reminded of the words spoken by John Foster Hall (1867-1945):

"We are on earth to help others. What the others are here for, I can't imagine." :)
For ten years Caesar ruled with an iron hand, then with a wooden foot, and finally with a piece of string.
