For everything that's not in any way related to PureBasic. General chat etc...

Publicity.....

Post by charvista »

Incredible that even the PureBasic Forum has now a lot of publicity from BetterSurf....
Since this afternoon, we are bombarded with reclame. Even the Google Gmail suddenly showed publicity....
Crazy.
Really crazy.
Why not make publicity of PureBasic????

Edit: I found a way to de-activate the BetterSurf ads: click on the word BetterSurf, then click on "deactivate" and then on the "ON" so it becomes "OFF".
Phew!
However, the many words underlined in green are still there! :(

I don't see any of that. I did once a few months ago and it turned out to be caused by adware on my computer.

Check the loaded extensions in your browser and disable or remove the offenders.
I had to go to the registry a few times to wipe all mention of 1 nasty lurker.

You are right.
I must admit that I googled a lot today, but I did not install anything. Probably the short visit on a page (but which one?!) installed "BetterSurf" on my computer. After my first post, I went to Control Panel > Programs and features, I saw that it was there, so I uninstalled BetterSurf. The internet is a very dangerous place, because it can really install programs without your knowledge. It could have been a virus!
I first thought it was general, but it appears it occurred to me only.
Backup your PureBasic programs on a different media often!

I ran CCCleaner and it seems it did his job. Thank you for the idea, skywalk!

A while ago, it was worse, I think it was Qo6. Terribly difficult to get rid of it. They are all spies. Snowden was right
