The problem is if the crocodile (isn't it an alligator ?) does not kill him but merely cut him in half and then he pretends to be cured and pampered at expense of the society for many years to come.

The animal might actually be friendly towards the guy, but compared to some, this one is clearly (a) a bit clumsy and (b) has noticed that the spectacular meets approval - so he might bite the guy by accident, just from being too keen to please
