For those with experience using the Microsoft SAPI how difficult is it to monitor incoming volume and/or frequency? I'd like to have a realtime sampling of those values. On a related note, is anyone aware of the latency associated with USB microphones? As I understand it non-ASIO soundcards can have delays of greater than 100ms when monitoring the input line.
I assume FMOD can be used for the input requirements but there is an associated cost if the final product is not distributed freely.
