I notice when we experience a bug we tend to post a bug report all over the place in the forum and if we do manage to post them in the bug report section they still all have different titles. This not only makes it hard for the user posting the bug to avoid making extra postings about the same bug but it makes it more time consuming for Fantaisie Software to look through them.
I suggest an Bug report application that, when an error arises can gather detailed information of the machine, compiler, and error that can be submitted to Fantaisie Software.
Thus Fantaisie Software would get an easier way to see the bugs. they would get a submission count that pertains to a bug rather than have to sift through an ocean of posts that have different topic headings.
Users could with the submission leave a comment and additional details in there own words if they wish, but the error and what type of machine and os would be sorted.
In fact perhaps the bug report app could actuality submit to the forum in an area where users can read the posts. but the app would be a cleaner more organized way to report the bug in a format that Fantaisie Software could get use to for their own navigational purposes.
Of course not all bugs are crashes. This leeds us to report a bug that can be posted of details of the machine and compiler details. but no error specific data. This is where we still have a problem with people having to describe what exactly the problem is. thus many many reports still would be generated about one topic and and no way of Fantaisie Software knowing before hand without reading it first, if its a new topic about the machine and compiler or belongs in a group already being worked on.
So in that event I guess an itemized list of topics can be picked by the submitter to narrow it down for the sorting of the groups.
anyhow I hope this makes sense to you and gives you good new ideas if you wish to pursue this.

Re: feature idea request
+1
A formal way of defining the Bug Report title would help everyone, and things like PB version, OS version are important.
After that though, the User needs to describe what is wrong and add a working code snippet to demonstrate the issue.

Perhaps eventually it will have to be reconsidered. A project like theirs at its infancy I would say something like that would be unnecessary , but as the user base grows I would say it would make things more difficult trying to wade through the forum.
However I am not taking into consideration advance search of the forum by recent postings and read/unread flag filtering. Perhaps that makes it allot easier for them.
I can understand they want to help each individual user. It is good PR to give attention to everyones problem individually. In a bug solving way my bug is probably your bug so a bug reporting app does not have to remove the personal customer service feel so much but to just help sort everyones problems so they can keep better track of what they have already addressed and prioritize. Users can still add there own words and obviously if it is not a crashing bug they would have to in their own words write a description. They can make sure to read everyones post but they can have it sorted.
Time will tell. Perhaps this is still a time they feel comfortable with current bug reporting style.

Re: feature idea request
I think it is evident that the current post-bugs-to-the-forum method is actually working very well.
The reason I agreed with your vision of an app (or better, an IDE function) is that the post titles need to be more formal, to include essential things like PB and OS version with the subject title being an appropriate keyword or phrase which would help Fantasie organise the reports into groups and would also highlight the areas that get the most reports.
The bug reports are not 'all over the forum'. If you think you have found a bug, you should post it in the most appropriate section of the forum, for peer review. When other Users agree that it is a bug, you then post to the Bug Report section. A huge amount of 'bugs' reported are not PB bugs at all, they are mistakes and typos by us!

Oh I am no stranger to that. I am typo pro.IdeasVacuum wrote:A huge amount of 'bugs' reported are not PB bugs at all, they are mistakes and typos by us!
Also what you were saying is exactly what I meant and you summed it up more clearly. Ide tool to make a more organized posting formatted in a uniform way of important details. with a user description added to the end. and could even end up posted to the forum.
You saying they are not all over the place, yes perhaps an exaggeration on my part. I did not think of the peer review aspect as well. But I was mostly referring to people having different titles and posts getting shoved to the second page or something to the nature of a new poster not noticing if their about to post about the same thing and could just add there confirmation agreement and any added opinions to an existing post.
