Vbox or VMware ?

Post by Zebuddi123 »

Hi to all

So VBox or VMware ?, I`m going to use VitualMachines of "Mint 15" and "OSX", as i`m selling my hardly used 2009 Mac Mini MC239LLA 2.53ghz . Have used VBox quite a bit and i`m familiar with it and VMware only once with the VMPlayer for "OSX" Dont want to have both VBox & VMware on the same machine.

Thanks Zebuddi. :D

I only use VirtualBox. However, for our last project we had to use VMWare
because of driver issues, things just didn't work with VirtualBox.

I'd still recommend VirtualBox if you are just casually using the OS (for developing for example).

I find VirtualBox a lot less polished and somewhat less robust, but you can compare it only to VMware Workstation.
Feature wise they are roughly the same, as long you use normal applications (not opengl stuff for example, they both still sucks but in different ways). I would choose VMware Workstation if it's ok to pay for it and pay more to update it in the future.

Against VMware player I would probably choose VirtualBox because the player is still missing the snapshots (afaik).
Something I consider essential.
