Hello..... from a new user

Post by The Th!ng »

Hi everyone,

I recently bought a copy of PB and just wanted to say how much I am looking forward to getting to grips with the language. I have been coding as a hobbyist since the days of the 48K Spectrum on which I learned a bit of BASIC before doing some Z80 assembler.

I am hoping to eventually develop a game as a homage to some of the Speccy's classics I played as a teenager - Fairlight, Batman, Head Over Heels, etc - I absolutely loved those isometric platformer \ puzzle games. Are there any programmers of the 8-Bit era here on the boards?

No doubt I will have plenty of questions for you all in the coming weeks, months, etc.....

Thanks for reading,

Most guys here are 30+, so they started on something predating the SSE3 PCs. ;)

If it sounds simple, you have not grasped the complexity.

Welcome. Most of us have followed similar paths. Check out this thread...

Fewer than 20% started with Dos + Windows. Almost everybody else was with either z80 or 6502.

Hello from another ZX fans!! ;)

You made a good choice.

I still write programs for the ZX Spectrum and PureBasic me often in this work, in the process of prototyping.

And as I am for 8 years I have written dozens of utilities PureBasis for data collection on their ZX Spectrum. I can not imagine what I would do without PureBasic!!

Welcome Th!ng,

my first computer was a ZX81 and i also owned the ZX Spectrum plus 48k and Atari 800 XL from the 8-Bit area. Good old isometric Speccy games, those where the days! :)

Ofc. the whole Amiga/ST area later was also truely awesome.
