It would be great if there was some sort of zooming indicator (preferably a track control in the status bar).
I frequently change the zoom level in the IDE (ctrl+scroll) but I didn't find a way to change it back to 100% with one click.

Just press ctrl + keypad / to reset zoom.

However I'd still like to have another way to change that as I can't comfortable change the zoom level
on my laptop (lack of mouse and keypad).

You're right, I just tried with my laptop and zooming was pretty awkward. So this gets a +1 from me.
