Problem installing PB 4.61 on Xubuntu

Post by Erich »

Hi everyone,

After upgrading from Ubuntu 10.04 LTS to Xubuntu 12.04 LTS my installation of PB stopped working (couldn't compile), and so I tried installing PB 4.61.

Unfortunately, it cannot meet the dependencies. I think libiodbc2-dev is the troublemaker. According to some post I've found on the Net, Ubuntu now uses unixodbc-dev instead of libiodbc2-dev. The problem is that if I want to install libiodbc2-dev in Synaptic, it wants to remove dozens of very essential looking packages so I'm pretty sure it would shred my installation into pieces.

Is there a way to get PB 4.61 running on Xubuntu 12.04?

Edit: Forgot to say, it's the 64 bit version.

libiodbc2-dev should install fine, i you don't use any of kde-libs!

Problem solved.

I've just installed libiodbc2-dev in Synaptic. Despite the many kde packages it removed, it seems that only okular, a pdf reader I don't really need, is missing now.
