Problem with web hosting.
I use 110mb.com to upload my PB files, I also created a site to present them. Now, I am trying to access my account without success. I didn't use my account for some months as I didn't have something to do, and now the account is not accessable. The web page is still there, it the one on my signature, but the account seems to be dead. I tried the "Forgot password" option but the phrase "We could not find any member with the provided account information." is returned. Any ideas of what is going on and what can I do?

I can visit your site and download your files... so I don't understand what the issue is?
Microsoft Visual Basic only lasted 7 short years: 1991 to 1998.

have you tried asking on their forums? Have you tried emailing them directly? have you checked your emails just in case they have told you they are suspending the account?

Re: Problem with web hosting.
I kept misreading "account" as "website".

....looks like you are signed-up with the wrong Host, they appear to be rather unreliable.

any *Free* account is unreliable... At the end of the day, you get what you pay for.IdeasVacuum wrote:....looks like you are signed-up with the wrong Host, they appear to be rather unreliable.

Thank you all for your replays.
@ MachineCode: I have seen them and tried them with no luck.
Can anyone recommend me a free host without problems like this?

What do you need? Web & FTP? CPanel? Mail?

Re: Problem with web hosting.
all free hosting has problems because they really want you to spend money. but one which has worked ok for me in the past is http://www.000webhost.com. This hosting is not perfect. Sometimes it is quite slow, but it does have quite a lot of useful features like PHP & MySQL. Also, they provide pretty much no support at all, so if the server your site happens to be hosted on dies... just remember there will be no site backup or restoration. So make sure you keep a backup yourself.doctorized wrote:Thank you all for your replays.

I just need a host what will give me some space to store my data without having problem like this. Nothing more.Foz wrote:What do you need? Web & FTP? CPanel? Mail?

Re: Problem with web hosting.
I've had really good luck with dropbox so far. I think they currently offer 2 gigs of storage free.
And hey, if you use my referral link to sign up, we both get extra space, to the tune of 250 megs. :D

doctorized: Don't feel bad. I can't afford hosting even though I have several freeware projects I want to release. I have tried the freebie hosts and have never found something reliable since the 90s.
Best wishes to the PB community. Thank you for the memories.

Absolutely sure?Kuron wrote:doctorized: Don't feel bad. I can't afford hosting even though I have several freeware projects I want to release.
You can get great shared webhosting for just about $6 per month. I've used it for several years without problem. Because of increasing traffic to my website I switched over to a "professional" shared webhosting plan for about $20 per month and I'm really satisfied: SSL certificate, shell access, own domain, dedicated IP etc. are all included.
What I want to say is that you can get really decent webhosting for little money. There is no excuse for not having your own website.
