I'm stupid. I can't understand what it's for or why I'd want it. Their PR needs some serious work.
Microsoft Visual Basic only lasted 7 short years: 1991 to 1998.

Maybe you can explain what Facebook is for and why I'd want it?

Once you have that, then apply to Google+

So, Google+ is like Facebook? Or were you just giving a generic example?

Yes, + is Google's latest attempt at a social networking site.

differences between facebook and google+?

1. google+ requires real names, if you don't provided it, you get banned.
2. google+ "api" is not a real api .. only read only junk for public info ... worthless for developers.

thats about it.

I'll pass, I quit facebook a year or more ago and don't miss it so I don't need to join another social networking site.

Looks like Google is screwing themselves with help from Microsoft.

This morning I noticed that the You+ (Google+?) menu entry is gone and that GMail was complaining about me using an unsupported older version if IE (I'm using IE8) which disappeared when I turned off the option to use updates from Microsoft's for the compatibility mode sites list. I also noticed that the You+ menu entry and the blue arrow came back after disabling the updates.

The question now is, is there a way to remove the already downloaded site list updates?

I checked out this Google+ shit and I would never choose it over Facebook, in my eyes it is not needed.

It is if you don't like facebook and want to join a social networking site...
But personally I partially agree with you, I just take it a step further and say that social networking sites in general are not needed, including facebook. All they are any more is a way for advertisers to reach a "captive" audience.

Social networking sites allow those with no life, not only the allusion that they have a life, but a life that matters.

If we sterilized everybody who used social networking sites, the majority of the problems in the world would automatically be solved within one generation.

Maybe it's just that my friends and I prefer to get out and go somewhere to meet face-to-face, rather than sit at home vegitating in front of the computer using facebook or IM or whatever.

Social networking sites and IM and texting and etc. are slowly destroying our ability to socialize and interact with others face-to-face and to me that is not a good thing.
