Re: Just wondering...
Daniel, I guess I didn't make my point. Those of us who worked with IBasic were told that development would be on hold for a short time. That was years ago and it's still on hold!
I hope that this does not happen to PureBasic.

Re: Just wondering...
Maybe its time to write a manifesto.....
Thats not the right word but you all know what I mean.
Purebasic Amiga went open source since development was dropped.
I have told all my customers that if I would be unable to continue all my work would go open source so a community can continue my work...
What happens if Purebasic stops development...?

Fred: No. If I decide to stop the development for any reasons, I will ensure than PureBasic will continue to live, either by making it Open Source or asking for a voluntary team to take up the development.

IBasic lives as IWBasic!

Re: Just wondering...
I don't want to pry into anyone's personal life, and we all, I'm sure, realize that shit happens..., that being said, does anyone know why development has at least temporarily stopped?
This isn't 'doomsaying', this is just trying to be realistic. One should hope for the best, yet prepare for the worst.

Re: Just wondering...
No idea but it's personal issues, so I guess something they don't wish to publicise and I understand that.
It's alright anyway. I never checked for updates for years and only when occasionally browsing the forum when code didn't work I would post saying "x" function doesn't work and the members would tell me that there's a new version out.
It's much more exciting that way.

Re: Just wondering...
Folks wondering about the future of PB is understandable, given:
- Lack of information from development team about hiatus
- Fred hasn't taken an extended leave of absence like this before (someone please correct me if wrong)
- Right in the middle of a beta cycle
- Both Fred and Freak took this break at the SAME time
Maybe they both just decided to take holiday at the same time?
Perhaps they're both just heads-down on some new super-duper feature they want to surprise us with!
(just kidding, unlikely)
...
If Fred decides to leave PB, which would be a shame given his unique (IMHO) combination of skills and judgement, then Freak could take over.

Re: Just wondering...
All of you should less worry about PureBasic ... and more about Fred and freak
Fred said in an interview, that if the development will be dropped ... PB will be open source.

Re: Just wondering...
Okay two months... I guess my RTC needs adjusting. Nonetheless the release schedules of much bigger companies with much bigger development teams have slipped by much more than TWO months
without much ado. In fact some of them do it all the time. Naming no names, of course...
