US export restrictions

Post by X0r »

Hi guys,
I am currently working on a software project and have to know whether it is subject to the US export restrictions due to the use of zlib.

Hope you can help me, thanks!

According to the FAQ at zlib's official site: http://www.zlib.net/zlib_faq.html
zlib faq wrote:43. Is zlib subject to export controls? What is its ECCN?
zlib is not subject to export controls, and so is classified as EAR99.

Microsoft Visual Basic only lasted 7 short years: 1991 to 1998.
PureBasic: Born in 1998 and still going strong to this very day!

If you are in Germany... why bother worrying about US Export nonsense... I live in the US (with the WORST politicians money can buy) and I could care less!!! All that ECCN noise nly applies to companies in the USA so if you exist in Germany you can generally fly the FIG to the west and do what you want!
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

It is my customer who worries about this as he is using my software in a humanitarian mission in the so-called rogue nations (...-.-).

Why not? We get asked a lot about Armadillo's export classification so we not only put it in our FAQ, there's a direct link to it in the footer of every page on our web site.

Seriously, if their software was subject to US export restrictions, as a US ally, I would think that Germany would at least adhere to part if not all of the restrictions. And even if they don't, I'm sure Germany has its own set of export restrictions that are probably similar to the US restrictions.

Politicians? Nah, that's just a euphemism for career criminal.

Haven't you heard? They've decided to make Washington DC the newest federal prison, the advantage is that most of the crooks are already there!

Q: What do you call 100 dead politicians at the bottom of the river.
A: A good start!

Agree. Now if only they would declare Chicago a prison, we'd have 90% of the Nation's criminals in prison.

Oh no! Don't do that! I live in Chicago!

At least wait another two months, by then I'll have moved to the suburbs to eliminate a two hour each way commute to work and back.
