annoying spam, please help

Post by doctorized »

The last few months, every now and then, I receive mails from defferent senders like this:

Image

As you can see, my name is Takis and not Ronald Davis and of cource my mail address is is not agbs..... that is appeared. The link that is in the mail body redirects to http://www.usacarsdealres.com/. I have never visited their site or any familiar and I have never given my mail address to this site or any familiar. I do not even live in USA and I am not interested in cars generally. I do not know how did they find my e-mail address. I tried to find a contact form or e-mail address but I found nothing. What can I do to get rid of them?

do a google search for you email address and see what crops up. you may spot that you have used it to signup at a forum/website somewhere where the email address isn't automatically hidden.

Activate and configure your email filter in yahoo so next time it will go straight
into your junkmail or deleted at choice. You can also setup a white list
for addresses that are allowed to send you an email. In addition to that,
since you have a yahoo email account it is very easy to send an
emailbomb back to this spammer to teach them a lesson 8)

There is a difference between knowing the code and writing the code.
May the code be strong in your projects.

I did it but nothing found.

I forgot to say that the sender is never the same, they never use the same addrress to send twice.

I cannot do it as they delete the account after sending. I tried many times to send them a mail saying some "good words" but everytime I get back a failure delivery mail.

See a new mail that I received:

As you can see the sender is louisross1559.... and not gloriawright723.....
These are only two of them, I have received many others like them. I contacted with Yahoo but they cannot help as the sender is not the same, but everytime is a different one.
What I can do to get rid of them?

Set up a filter to permanently delete (not move to trash!) any emails that are NOT directly addressed to you (your email address is NOT in the "To" or "Cc" fields). That's what I used to do, and it works great. You won't get any Bcc mails though, but who cares, a lot of spam is sent via Bcc anyway.

Yahoo does not let me delete permanently, it lets me send them to the 'Spam', 'Inbox', 'Trash' and 'Sent' folder.

Do they not have a White List?

A White list will delete/trash/spam e-mails from anyone not on the list.

They only have a list with 'Blocked Email Addresses' which is useless as a different mail address is used everytime.
'Disposable Addresses' are available only for Yahoo Mail Plus.

Yep. Switch to Gmail. It can import all your Yahoo emails and contacts, and has far more advantages to Yahoo, such as auto-responding with specific text to specific senders, canned responses (select what you want to post from a drop-down list that you've previously defined), better filtering, faster operation, no graphic ads, syncing with your desktop PC so you can access your emails while offline (Yahoo can't!), and much more. I recently switched from Outlook 2003 to Gmail and don't regret it at all. It's not much of a hassle changing your email address with those that already have it, so don't use that as an excuse. :)

I agree with C64, my ISP partners with Yahoo to provide e-mail --- I wasn't impressed so I set up a filter to delete anything not from my ISP. Then set up GMail to periodically grab any e-mails from the Yahoo account.

Works great and GMail has the best spam filters I've ever seen, been using them for 18 months or so and have had only one or two spams make it to my inbox.

I got it, there is no way to save the Yahoo account. Thanx a lot for your responses.
