You could try to use the free demo version first and then see if you like it and need to buy the full version.
If you're into programming you should buy it in my opinion because it's an unbeatable price.

I actually agree that any computer language/compiler should be free. Just imagine all the new users they would get then... They could probably even earn more money that way... And yeah, I'm rambling again.Pearlz wrote:oh! I see, it's not for me.

I like logic, hence I dislike humans but love computers.

Well, PureBasic is the opposite of marriage. In marriage it's not the purchase, but the upkeep that gets you in the end!

So how do you make even more money from giving something away?Joakim Christiansen wrote: I actually agree that any computer language/compiler should be free. Just imagine all the new users they would get then... They could probably even earn more money that way... And yeah, I'm rambling again.
Perhaps by selling PB consultancy, or support? I suspect Fred & Freak aren't interested in that...

Well, I gave my software away and earnt a lot of money that way, and I think PB has potential to get more popular than what my software was.naw wrote:So how do you make even more money from giving something away?Joakim Christiansen wrote: I actually agree that any computer language/compiler should be free. The main methods are optional installation bundles (doesn't need to be spyware) and advertisement on the website. If you look around you'll see lots of companies who give away software while getting rich (Ubuntu is free for example). Not long ago I read about someone who made an free iPhone app but earned enough on the included ads to beat any normal job.
I'm not guaranteeing that they would earn more (I don't know how much they earn) but I'm just saying that there are other ways of earning money and maybe it could work.
I personally think PB could beat C++ (but for that it has to be free).
And I know it is not a good idea for me to start such an discussion because it will only lead to trolling and whatnot (and I mean no disrespect with my suggestion btw).

Yeah, but your program hit the market like a bomb because it was something new. I'm trying this freeware thingy like 2 years now and the money-wise feedback is pretty disappointing although people are satisfied and software pages gave good rates. So as long as the user base is rather small you aren't able to stay free with commercial interest...Joakim Christiansen wrote:Well, I gave my software away and earnt a lot of money that way, and I think PB has potential to get more popular than what my software was.

Every great product should be free. Like this German car. It's a mechanical copy, and they need to sell x copies to pay for the R & D, the rest is profit.
But, Imagine what kind of money BMW would make if they just gave them away for free instead of asking you to pay for it..
Brilliant idea.

If I could pay for PureBasic I'd do it in a heartbeat! But for now I am stuck to the demo.
I'm working on it though! I am saving up for in in my paypal account! Does anyone know if you can purchase it with paypal?

Re: How to get full version of pure basic?
Giving it away for free isn't going to work, but selling it for 4$ might work big time.
I hinted on this in another thread a long time ago, but in the meantime, android markets
and i** whatever appstores is here, and these markets sell shitloads of apps to people
each second.
The problem with PB pricing today is that the price is acceptable to people in high-cost,
high-quality areas like the EU, but not to people living in Africa or China, or India.
These areas have a lot of potential customers. A_LOT of potential customers.

So my thinking is to lower the price to app-market standards, and see what happens.
