A good reason to disable texting on your cell phone

Post by GWarner »

As if spammung us through e-mail wasn't bad enough, now spammers have discovered sending their crap to us as text messages.

I just got my first text spam today but I know more are coming.

And you can be certain the spammers will not honor the do not call list. :(

I have a Nokia phone and there's an app for it which will reject any
unwanted calls AND texts without the user even knowing they were
sent. Basically, you tell the app which numbers are "friends" (it's a
whitelist). I haven't bought it yet but might in future if I start
getting spammed. So, the problem won't be as bad as email.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

That works for smart phones, but if you have a basic phone like me, such a service would have to be provided by the carrier.
