Use of colour in Visual Designer

Post by nigel »

I'm considering the use of Purebasic which is very difficult and time consuming to evaluate.

I have tried using the included Visual Designer and also an alternative called Pureform 1.99
I am certainly confused about how (or if) these products deploy colour for gadget backgrounds
and text because this is not at all obvious to me. When I look at applications which have been
created using a graphical user interface they all seem to use colour which is not "black text on
a grey background".

Do visual design tools used by Purebasic and other languages include colour support or does this
type of thing usually have to be coded by hand outside of the visual design application environment.

The Purebasic visual designer does not appear to support colour and I have attempted to use
colour within the Pureform designer and this appears to work but relies on the use of something
called Purecolor which appears to cause the application to hang when executing from within the
visual design environment.

What exactly is Purecolor ?
Why is use of Purecolor not recommended ?
Is there actually an alternative (Non-Purecolor) way to use colour in the GUI

Any comments on the above would be appreciated.

Purecolor is a LIB coded by Phillippe GNOZAL Guntz. It is available for download here:

http://gnozal.ucoz.com/

You have to scroll down the page to locate it. Gnozal has said this plugin works in his version of Visual Designer as well... I haven't played with that feature so I cannot comment.

I will tell you that I used PureColor to color the buttons in my Restaurant Point of Sale program. It works very well!
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

PureFORM does not force you to use PureCOLOR.

If you want to use the genuine PureBasic coloring functions, you may change the color settings in Preferences.
For free libraries and tools, visit my web site (also home of jaPBe V3 and PureFORM).
