Goodbye Ionic Wind...
Looks like Ionic Wind is going...
http://www.ionicwind.com/forums/index.p ... 823.0.html
This is only a few days after announcing a new lib for the program!
Personally I think Mr Turley is a bit of an ego manic (with a bit of manic depressive thrown in for good measure) and wants the attention of people saying 'please stay', etc...
If he had any thanks for the mugs who have supported him for the past (19?) years then he should make the code he is abandoning open-source.

At least it is included in the special offer.DoubleDutch wrote: then he should make the code he is abandoning open-source.
Aurora no longer belongs to me. The source for Emergence and the Creative runtime are included in "Everything"
Re: Goodbye Ionic Wind...
What is about lifetime support
What is with the many beta programs, the have people paid for and will never be finished.
Well this is closed the site, before Paul Turley cheats even more people.

Mods, please lock this thread.
People, this site is not about other langauges, it's about PureBasic. And though some of us may have well founded... euh... doubts and thoughts about Ionic whatever and their (former) products, this is not the place to vent them, I think.

He posted in the Off Topic section, and as you should know:People, this site is not about other langauges, it's about PureBasic.
I don't like mr.Paul Turley, but I do like many of his followers, and how he can do this to them isFor everything that's not in any way related to PureBasic. General chat etc...
beyond me. Unbelievable.

Re: Goodbye Ionic Wind...
Perhaps the one thing that should not be discussed, not even in the off-topic section, is other programming languages and their (dis)advantages as these things always seem to end up in attacks, flamewars, and the like...
A programming language can be too close to a religion, I guess

This discussion goes not about another computer language, but about the Business of Mr. Turley.

"Until the site closes these forums will remain open for viewing only. No new posts or PM's will be allowed."
In other words: no discussion about this, no opinions, no recriminations, no exchange between users, no "where we could meet again now to help each other ?".
Go all to hell and stay there.
That's how I read the thing.
I know this thread will be locked and like all of you I should have kept my mouth shut (only for the reason Fred made clear in the past he doesn't approve this kind of thread), but I really felt the absolute, visceral need to underscore that.
Kill me if you wish.

Re: Goodbye Ionic Wind...
Actually, this serves to make us realize how lucky we are to be with Fred
After the way Paul treated his first group of customers and subsequent business buyer, people should have had an idea.
cheers to Fred and Co.

The off topic section
Hi
Some individuals see a flamewar coming even if everything is still cool.
The post about ionic wind is usefull to learn about busines life cycles,
which to my opinion fits normally in the off topic section.
I like this forum so much because it's openminded with a lot of helpful
people. It even advertises now for powerbasic which is progressive and
I think that is a good thing. And what if a flamewar really should start ?
They allways die out by themselves because most of us here simply hook
off when things become too hot. I found a lot of interesting info and links
in the off-topic section and I really hope it will never get narrowed down
in any way.
Greetings

Re: Goodbye Ionic Wind...
Rings: No problem, call it a late Christmas present.thx for the link doubledutch.

I had an email in November from Mr Turley about his new .net executable target switch for Emergence Basic and was actually quite interested in what the results would be like. He was asking for $35 to fund the side project! I didn't contribute, but if he has been 'considering for a very long time' quiting the business then surely he should give the contributers their money back?
