forum is annoying, please help

Post by J. Baker »

Ok, besides the fact that I don't care for the look of the new forum update, my biggest gripe is...

As we know, when you come back to a forum it shows new post. But for some reason I'm still seeing new post from times of visiting before. So now when I come here, there's nothing but a lit up forum of new post. Is there a setting for this? Thanks

On the main screen, click on "Mark forums read". Seems like all new forum software have this. I am used to doing it in the linux forum that I visit. Been doing it for so long that it's second nature now.

I have to agree, the forum is annoying.

Somewhere along the way the people behind phpBB took a wrong turn. v2 was far superior to v3 from what I've seen so far.

Yep, v3 is all bells and whistles and nothing that gives any more value. It just clutteres the interface and make finding and reading hard work.

I navigate to http://www.purebasic.com/, click the official forums link, and have to log in on each
visit.

If this domain isn't the offifcial site, they should shut it down, or at least make shure the links and
login works.

When I tried to delete all board cookies it threw up a large page of XHTML code.
When I tried again everything seemed OK and I presumed my cookies were deleted. I logged of before quitting the forum.
But when I next entered the forum via http://www.purebasic.fr/english (as suggested by Trond) and went to login, my username and password were still present despite the cookies being deleted. Also, despite my asking it to log me in automatically the next time, it did not, as was experienced by utopiomania.

There is something badly wrong with the forum management programming. Who is responsible for re-programming it?

If you delete all cookies before logging out, you will still have new cookies generated.

Deleting cookies is done by the browser software. First log out of the forum. The use your web-browser to delete the cookies, then go to the new address.

PS. phpBB sucks. And it's open source.
