HTTPS for website login/account/registered compiler download

Got an idea for enhancing PureBasic? New command(s) you'd like to see?

HTTPS for website login/account/registered compiler download

Post by Rescator »

Any chance of this Fred?

Considering that finally StartSSL http://startssl.com/ certs are now available via the automatic root update in Windows XP SP2, Vista, Win7.
This means that StartSSL certs are supported by FireFox (builtin so any platform) and Chrome/Safari/IE (via Windows), and Safari/others? (via MacOS), and Multiple (via Linux), the only slacker here is Opera which does not use the OS provided certs and still does not hae StartSSL/StartCOM certs in it's repository for some odd reason.

Why is this so special? StartSSL provide basic free certs, yearly renewal. for email or websites.
So there is no excuse for anyone to not secure site logins, software downloads, personal info, etc. to/from a website.

All you need is to be able to use HTTPS with your site and have a IP for your site. Different subdomains is considered different domains though.
A wildcard and extended verification certificate costs extra obviously.

I'd really be cool to secure the PureBasic download and account/login parts of the website for example.
