MultiBase (Multiple database) home information manager

[Fangbeast]

Introduction: A nine database (and expandable) information manager for the home. This product provides for the tracking of your personal addresses, Books from the library, Batteries, Documents, gadgets (anything that uses batteries), Home inventory, Recipe keeper and Shopping list.

Basic functions: Add, delete and edit records in all of the six databases. Update the Australian postcode database (for the Address book) from an official Australia Post data file. Lend items to people from the books, gadgets and inventory database. Find as you type.

Other functions: The document tracker has more functions than the other modules combined (with the possible exception of the address section) , so be sure to read the bundled help file.

Other functions: Many forms are interrelated such as the Address book looking up the postcode database, the recipe manager picking items from the shopping list, the gadgets database looking up the battery list, the inventory, gadgets and books databases having history of borrowing and more. Try it and see!

Looks nice! How about Drag'n Drop support to add quick and easily new documents?

Looks very nice, but it doesn't do anything for me here. Clicking on a button in the menu bar at the top only shows a bubble description when the mouse cursor is over it but clicking on a button does nothing. Trying to add a new item, doesn't. Nothing seems to work.

I thought about it, but wasn't sure that it was strictly necessary. Do you need it?

When I re-import (batch import) an existing directory of documents, any that exist (via MD5 checksum) are not reimported so I don't have to think about adding things manually.

I can add it if you need it badly enough.

Sounds like you might be running under Vista maybe. Are you? I don't have vista here, can't afford it so not really able to support it but a few people have told me that it runs okay on their vista systems.

I run windows XP with SP3 and from a cold start (no database), I can click on the add button in each of the database modes and everything shows up.

1. Did you download the original archive with all the directories in it? The only way that I have ever been able to reproduce the error that you describe was when the sqlite library was missing.

2. What buttons are active depend on the current database mode. Exit and vacuum work from any mode. Help, about and keys are currently inactive. Add works with every mode except lending.

Actually, you inspired me to madly do lots of updates and bugfixes and it's getting harder to find things to fix now, except for SFSxOI's report. Waiting for more information about his system and running circumstances.

1. Yes, that is the correct archive with the help file as well and should have worked for you. That one works here. Could you check if the Libraries\sqlite3upxl.dll file exists please?

2. I'll recompile with the PB vista switches and give you a new link later and see if that fixes your problem.

Then I don't know. srod is using Vista premium 32 bit and it runs perfectly on his system (no UAC errors) so the compiler switches would not do anything more on yours.

Need some other vista users to test the original archive and the update and tell me of any messages that the system generates or any messages in the statusbar of the program when you try to do something.

Running vista 64 here. Seems to run fine. Nice looking app, just what I'd expect from fangles

SFSxOI - did you try opening a database first? Some of the actions are dead until you do.

1. The program creates a brand new database if you don't already have one (help file tells you this).

Start MultiBase program.
A new database is created.
Click on the add button, up it comes.!!

2. What buttons are enabled or disabled dependant on the current database table selected. Exit and vacuum work from any mode. Help, about and keys are currently inactive.

3. Because you get a brand new database (it is created on the first run of the program) when the program starts up if you didn't have one to begin with, the add function will work immediately with any of the database tables selected.

Or at least, it should.

If it doesn't, then I do not know what is going on as this is vista and I do not have it.
