OGG/Flac Encoding and audio-routing

I'd like to suggest to implement audio-encoding using OGG Vorbis and/or FLAC.
Could also be a nice feature to support audio-routing.

I have in mind being able to do some kind of realtime or no-realtime audio-processing.
Is it already possible to record audio under MacOS? I didn't find information about this,
besides Windows-only-stuff, which is not portable at all
