PureBasic 4.10 Beta 1 for MacOS X

Post by freak »

Hello everybody,

The OSX version is now also in the 4.10 version. We skipped the 4.00 final, as
it makes no sense to keep one of the OS versions on a lower version while
developing the other ones further.

Except for some features for the WebGadget, all of the 4.10 features of the other OS
are implemented (including a full Drag & Drop and Xml lib!)
For a detailed list of changes, see the Windows announcement here:
http://www.purebasic.fr/english/viewtop ... 43&start=0

Get it on your PureBasic account.
Please help by testing this version so it can get more stable soon...

Concerning an Intel version:
As was stated in other discussions, we are not against creating one. Its just not
the highest priority right now.
Our plans are pretty much layed out until version 4.30, so there will not
be an Intel version before that. After that, lets wait and see.

As i said before. The best thing to do for Intel Mac users is to help support
the ppc version even if it is slow, as this will ultimately benefit the Intel version
as well.

The PureBasic Team

Thanks a lot!
:D

Just one thing: the link to a forum topic in your post is about the Linux release not the Windows one.

Very good release as always, PB team!

Can you give us an insight as to whats planned, so we all don't keep suggesting things that are already planned to go in? :)

That sounds at all really good.

If I understand that right, a intel version might come.

As far as I am informed, the mac version does not run well on intel macs.
So, at time, I think a mac user get faster and better results, using a windows implementation on his macs (both), than using a mac version on an intel.

I had promised a mac version to my users (GeoControl - fast growing!). But I had bought a intel mac. While it is now possibly running, I am not very interested in an old mac version. GeoControl really needs speed, because of the great amount of float calculations. Also fast saving and loading is very important.
I do not want to make any pressure, but the release of GeoControl 2 will come soon, with so revolutionary features, that there will be many requests, also of mac users.
So, what can I tell them?
Will a mac intel come and when, may be in the first quarter of 2008?
