Megasearch alpha 2

Post by Trond »

Update: Added Google as a search engine (gives many results, but rather slowly) and added some features. You can drag the files directly from the search result list into Winamp to preview them, and double click on a file in the download list to open it in the default media player, which will play it while it downloads if it supports playing half files.

Megasearch uses several search engines to give you the best results for mp3 files. The current version is only a rough test and uses only 2 engines, but more sophisticated features will be added so that not only specialized search engines for mp3 files but also general-purpose search engines like Google and Alltheweb can be used.

Oh and a good thing to check is the file header to see its an mp3 and not a webpage or an image instead.

kbps is 1000 bits per second. I have already changed it to report the number of bytes /1024 (KB/s) instead, I think that's what other programs does. That shouldn't change the actual speed anyways.

If you don't know what to search for, try "chopin".

what's new Trond ?

by the way i like it - it works well.
No programming language is perfect. There is not even a single best language.
There are only languages well suited or perhaps poorly suited for particular purposes. Herbert Mayer

New is Google, which gives more results, a stop search button, and the ability to double click on files in the download list.

BUG:

type aaa in search field and press enter
wait for some results to come
hit 'X' to stop search
hit -> to start search again

ERROR: Invalid contents in tablet.txt! Quitting now.

Happens every time :(

SUGGESTION:

Sort list on header click ;)
Can you show size before downloading ?
