Take a look at the videos...

I've checked out the patents - looks like its real.

Now to make some space here for the wide format version! :)

Probably no April Fools joke since it was announced some time ago.

Looks like killer technology. Now let's see them deliver.

All I get is:

PWP - 404 Error
This Page Cannot Be Found

But I have to tell you that wide format has been around for some time. Just not mainstream. Check under BUSINESS PRINTERS / PLOTTERS...

(keep in mind I am assuming this is a standard wide format inkjet which are an incredible pain in the ass to work on.)

I am starting to think it may be a joke because when I clicked the link I got the 404 error again and so I clicked the HOME link at the top of the 404 page and got VIRGIN.UK
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

Works here for me...

I've seen wide printers - this is the same width as those. But, the speed has to be seen!

They've changed the video since yesterday, only showing the a4 printer now, perhaps that's why the 404's were coming up, the site was being updated.

WoW! photo's at 30 pages a minute and pages at 60 pages a minute. This is really going to upset HP and Epson, which is good. :) I want one...NOW!

Well the site seems to be back up. I read the articles with a sceptical mind. I, or more accurately, the company I work for will probably be tasked with maintenance of these units if they are introduced and accepted.

But here is the key bit:

1. I saw no cables going in to the printer in the video... Possibly the images were sored on an internal HDD... What would the entire print process speed be?

2. The printhead is interesting but I have had to deal with similar. The Xerox 3XX, 8XX, 8200, and 8400 and 85XX series come to mind. The difference is that they use hot wax or wax/resin to make a picture.

Those printheads are EXPENSIVE!!! At times more than the cost of the machine.

Also, printer ink (ALL printer ink) is extremely overpriced. This isn't as cheap as it could be.

I did a google search one day trying to find out how much it would cost for a gallon of mercury... discovered this:
http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/ ... 212444.php

By the way... the amount of oil represented here is about how much it takes to make a gallon of diesel fuel (or 4/1 times how much to make a gallon of gas!)

ther eis nothing special abou tthe ink... the pigment is not treated in any way... HP and the other companies have been blorking us for years!!!
Binarily speaking... it takes 10 to Tango!!!

while I'm not interested in spewing out pictures at that rate (I'm not running a print shop...) having a low cost large format (DIN A0 anyone?) color printer would be very interesting indeed.
cheers,

I think that that kind of speed and ink cost reduction would save a lot of time/money when it comes to photos - they take ages and cost a lot in ink!

Definately, I used to have a Canon and that was quite quick but now I have an HP and to print an a4 photo at top quality takes a couple of minutes.

This kind of printer will sell without a doubt.
