Hi all
I hope you can help me with that problem of a really personal kind. Last year, I had a really good teacher. She was already 60 years old, but still teaching the girls of my class in sports (Physical Education). My grades were: Math=4 (Math is my worst subject), German=2, English=1 *. This year, I got a new teacher. And suddenly, my grades were as worse as never before. Today we got a test in German back, my grade was a 5(!). Even though German is one of my best subjects. I am not the only pupil in my class, who is sharing my opinion. It seemes, that my teacher seriously want's to get rid of us (If your grades are too worse, you are going to have to repeat a grade).
It's a serious problem. I think it's not normal, if you get a new teacher, and SUDDENLY, ALL grades of the entire class become worse.
Can you give me any tips, how to 'handle' with such teachers to avoid further trouble?
*German grades system: 1=Best grade ... 6=worst grade.

Damn it. I don't know what to write here. Well, simply: Thanks to everybody, who helps me. I hope we are not going to have any problems.
Old teacher=Good grades - New teacher=BAD grades

Merendo,
I don't know about german schools obviously I went once, but just for one day (it was a cultural exchange between the french city were I lived and a german city close to Köln).
First you mention that the all classroom general level is low with this teacher. Then you used to have a higher one formerly.
In France this would make sense first to discuss with the teacher to explain him/her that, such a discussion being started between the teacher and the class representatives (usually two pupils are elected for being pupils representatives in France).
If this does not give any good results, maybe you have then the possibility to ask representatives to push that problem to the class council (we have such councils twice a quarter or more in France depending on schools).
And if this does not help, parents should escalate this to the school's principal.
Escalating so would not hurt the teacher directly even if it takes time to find the way for solving such a situation.
By the way, nobody likes to see that a 'judge' changes the rules ... but it is so, and you should not become discouraged of doing your best in lessons and exercise. Is the bar higher, you will certainly reach a higher goal.
I also remember that changing into higher class makes the first quarter some bitter because teachers have the goal to challenge pupils more and more.
I am not sure how you could find external help, but maybe by negociating a dialog with this teacher would make sense.
Kind regards

Well, I think talking with this teacher won't make big results. Especially if pupils are talking to the teacher, it's senseless. If the parents would talk to the teacher, It would make bigger results.
But there is another problem. Usually a teacher teaches a class for three years. Beginning from the 7th grade to the 9th grade. The class my teacher had before he started teaching my class, had really good grades. Well, but they had enough time to find out how to get along with that teacher and the teacher had enough time to get the class to know. But my class has a big disadvantage now. We got this teacher this year, in the 9th grade. We don't know this teacher and he doesn't really seem to aim a good get-along with us. The other problem is, that especially this grade and the last grade at school (10th grade) are the most important in a german pupils school live. If the grades become worse now, there is no chance to correct them anymore.
But, thank you, Fweil. I am going to talk to the other pupils who represent our class (The german and french school systems seem to be similiar in that point.). I hope this is not making any romours.

Well everything is fine now. I think it was just a problem at the beginning of the year because nobody knew the other. Many students had to leave the class because their grades were too bad. But I survived.
I owe you something, everybody who helped me. Thank you for your help. Bye!
