PureBasic 4.00 Beta 1 for Linux

Post by Fred »

Hi folks,

After a long period of development and some personal issues, here is the first beta release of the long awaited 4.00 version for linux. It has been in alpha testing since some times now, and we think it's ok for you all to test it and report any problems (it will probably have a lot). This is the 4.00 version, so all the new features like unlimited strings, macros and such are build-in. The commandset have been updated as well. Here are the 'extra' changes:

Code: Select all

- Added Printer, Help, Systray, Movie and Sprite3D lib (only for the opengl subsystem)
- OpenGL subsystem
- GTK 2 is now the default toolkit, use "gtk1" subsystem to compile with gtk1.2 support
- New Process lib, the same than on Windows
- All gadgets are now native GTK2 gadgets (no more use of old GTK1.2 gadgets for listicon, tree etc.. in GTK 2 mode)
- The IDE should now use GTK2
- .so generation
- Basically all the new commands of the v4 version, so check the v4 history for more infos
- The GTK1 subsystem is "deprecated", which means than it is still working, but don't support new features (like coloring etc.)
Some important notes: the ODBC lib now use iODBC (you need the devel package). The printer lib uses Gnome-Print (you also need the devel package). The Movie lib uses the Xine lib (you guessed it, the devel is needed).

Grab it in your personal accounts, and don't hesitate to report something wrong !

Have fun,

The Fantaisie Software Team.
