Need a little help with some stuff I'm working on ;)

I was wondering if anybody have an idea of how I can stream a video from an url and show it in a PB screen?
Or how I can make a hidden window and catch an area from it to show inside a PB screen?

And where can I find something like an MSDN for the Linux API?
I need to be able to know which Linux API commands I can use with the PB gadgets.

And I need something like the URLDownloadToFile_() or something like the InternetReadFile_() (which downloads it to memory) for Linux.

I'm just asking here first since we have this nice PB community that knows everything
I'm working on something serious now and may need a little help with random stuff.
