PC knocks and beeps rhythmically. [fixed!]

Does somebody know this strange noise?

When it starts..
o System is very slow (or locks).

o I can't shut down windows (XP Pro) without blue screen.

(e.g. KERNEL_DATA_INTERFACE_ERROR)

MotherboardMonitor reports nothing unusual - except high cpu usage.

What could it be?
o Virus?
o Heat?
o RootKit?
o HDD-Error?
o ???

You don't by chance have a steam powered computer do you?

Well, there are very few moving parts in your PC... disconnect the power from your harddrive and power up the machine. If it keeps making that noise, you've got a busted fan somewhere. My guess would be the power supply fan... sounds like it sucked in a cat or something.

If the noise goes away when you don't power up the HD, then you've got a hooped drive.

Sure you haven't been clocking the cpu abit?
Anyways, 1622 for the CPU fan is pretty low. I'm gathering you have a Pentium CPU?

As soon as CPU temp comes close to 60° it speeds up. (~3700)
Then it sounds like a starting propeller-driven aircraft. (original SCALEO boot sound)

Your +12V is 33% above what it should be !

That is the voltage that powers HD's...

Check if the sound comes from the fan of the power supply!
That is in facto a fan that is not spinning correctly...

Just vacuum clean all fans...

Also if the CPU fan sounds like an airplane, it's because it's a crappy one...
Buy a good CPU cooler (Zalman, Thermaltake, with LOW dB )

I forgot to tell that MotherboardMonitor does not show proper values for my system. You can observe only differences. (delta)

The BIOS-Monitor shows correct values:
core: 1.424 / 3.3: 3.328 / 5: 5.094 / 12: 12.144

All fans are clean and correctly spinning.
All HDDs are OK.

I don't think heat is the reason.

The noise + high cpu usage starts just sometimes.
Not every day - - up to xx times a day.
Then i have do power off without shutting down, which is impossible.

The noise/sound sometimes starts when cpu usage is below 1% and everything is rather cold. (30°/50°)

Only thing that could knock and could cause a blue screen is a hard drive malfunction.

Better get that data off there quick.

Svreson,

Try this:

Reset you BIOS to factory default (or simmilair wording). (so slow your machine down) see if the problem arises again..

Then remove ALL cables from the motherboard except the power cables (or the machine will not start). Let it run idle see if your BIOS has a 'health monitor' and look at the temps and the vents.

Try this program:

aka memtest, write it on a blank floppy (with rawrite) and boot with it. (after your connected the floppy offcourse), let it run for at least an hour or more see if any problems arrise in your memory.

The beeps says in all bios-versions:
Sirene:
the power of cpu is to low

or with Rhytmn:
the fan isn't run or to slow

Change the power-supply or wait for wintertime
