Post your Opera

Post by Trond »

All Opera users, post a screenshot of your Opera in this thread if you feel the urge. Since I've got nothing better to do, I'll start.

"Firefoxic" toolbar layout for the mentally challenged:

(Yes, it should be possible to make a close button for the right of the tab bar, but I didn't bother.)

Efficient layout with everything I need (CNN with two blocked ads):

Well, I don't like Opera (I prefer Konqueror instead) but since no screenshot of Opera with Linux has been postet, I'll do:

Opera is bloated :P
But I used it before, and I might try again with this new version.

Opera 9 installation file: 4 mb.
Firefox 1.5 installation file: 4.9 mb.
Conclusion: Firefox is bloated.

If you mean speed then you're wrong. Opera is simply faster than Firefox. <- That's a link.

Interesting! I'm going to try Opera 9 tonight. It looks like in the speed tests that Opera out performs firefox on windows in many areas.

But is Opera ad supported?

@Kale: If you mean that it has banners in the program itself: No, not anymore.

This test must be a joke. I haven't opera installed, but I noticed that IE6 is faster then firefox at startup. Does anyone agree on this? It must be a totally new clean windows installation 'cause my IE6 takes forever while firefox 1.5, well does not. I mean I can visually see the difference in startup.

I guess it isn't all black&white - how fast a browser is must be related to how fast it APPEARS to be.

IE on my machine is alot faster than both Opera and Firefox. If yours is slower then it's probably because you got some nasty stuff going on in the background ;)

Yes, its overall speed is acceptable but it has some nasty security holes. And also the back/forward and script speed aren't close to Opera's.

Nope. No "stuff". I guess it is different for everyone. But that would render the speed tests useless
