Hi,

I'm a french developper.
And I launched the french summer of code for PureBasic (SOCPB )

This project is like the Google Summer of Code.

We have 6projects :
#1 : Use easily Mysql in PB
#2 : Skinnig easily a window and its gadgets gadgets
#3 : Manage easily beautiful menus
#4 : Update for PB4 codes of CodeArchiv
#5 : Library GUI for the mode « Screen » (like BCF of Filax for Blitz3D)
#6 : Editor of DialogBox

We search actually projects leaders.
For interested, you must speak french

I spoke to Andre on irc recently and suggested that he somehow make a list of what has been converted so far or else everyone will be doing the same thing and it will be a nightmare.

He had a good suggestion too, to use AL90's PB3.04 to PB4.x source converter. I would suggest that is a good starting point for simple source so that most of them can be done quickly.

I will suggest this point at the project leader when he will be designed.

I have an another idea : Why don't englishs do the same thing ?

Advantages :
- That improves Purebasic in filling its lacks
- That improves all developpers participating at the project

Speaking of Projects ...

Been thinking of setting up some Sourceforge-alike-simplified ( *g* ) PureForge or something where we could collect sort and manage Community Projects and also store eg stuff like codes from tips and tricks etc.

Tought might be some idea especially since searching a procedure lately gets hard due the sheer amount of posts =)

I have started something like that .. based on some older Source i found on my hd ( converted to PB4 ) - its still just a starter as i never got teh time along ( i program for a living ) to finish it yet.

Just to make a comment here about your idea:

The idea sounds great!

I think it would make sense, if I would be the project leader for the CodeArchiv update to PB v4. Simply because I'm the initial author of the CodeArchiv and for the next update also the CAV should be included, etc.

As it's just a problem of the missing time for me (as you can see, I wasn't on the english forum for weeks - but was involved in the PB v4 update with the improved help file) I need helpers, which can convert old sources to PB v4 syntax. So I can concentrate on adding new sources and make a v4 version of CAV.

Any comments and helpers welcome. Probably in a new thread...

Are you subscriebed (inscrit) on the french forum ?

It is interesting because we looked for team leaders.

No, I don't.

Its a matter of time, becaue I'm already active on german PB forum and on english board too.

(Also remember, that I tried it ages ago to register on french forum, but something went wrong...)

We have a leader for the first project.

That advances, but we look for again some leaders.

We have now three leaders : for projet #1, #2 and #5

Just a short note, that on german forum a thread about converting the CodeArchiv to PB4 was already started:

At least one user has already completed the code converting for several directories of the CodeArchiv.

Current status-report is the following:

- Games
- Music+Movie

are fully converted.

I will also post a link on german forum to this thread, so each other can have a short look.

We find a leader for all projects except one.

We are going to begin translating on next monday.

The coding party is launched.

Six on seven projects have been choosen.

The coding party will be finished at the beginning of September.
