True.. Except AVG doesn't have 'over' 7 layers of protection.

Good programmers don't comment their code. It was hard to write, should be hard to read.

I use Corel Draw X3, and Corel PhotoPaint X3 for this. Gimp can't do
true objects. ;) It also converts bmp's to objects via bitmap trace.

Check out this .mov .. I'll leave it up for a day.

Corel Draw is absolute rubbish! I think you will find that most professional icons (etc) are drawn in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.

Even that video shows the crapness of Corel, i mean look at the jagged edges of that vector conversion, doesn't that guy using it see them??? :?

Actually I use Deneba Canvas, not GIMP, but I thought fewer would find it funny then.

Or eat an onion!
Kale wrote:Corel Draw is absolute rubbish!
Well, yes and no.

Longer answer: I dont personally "enjoy" Corel software, but, I have to use their formats since most printing companies work with them...

Now, as for "this is crap" and "this rules" ... No, that is ones opinion, however it does not differ in this case on the results that you'll get. Because if you're good, you're good here and there. No excuses ... If you dont like the UI and moved to another suite because of that, then ok.. But if you're good, you'll be able to pull anything out of any program when requested and as requested.

Just wanted to comment about that :)

If you ask, I do work with Adobe software 90% of the times when it comes to graphics (2D) at work. It's the real deal because of many reasons. But when it comes to the final output, you're the one that creates it (talking about your talent here!), not the program ;)

The jagged'ness is based on the amount of nodes you ask for or not.

But for a better point. And don't get me wrong, I've been a photoshop
user since version 2.

But have now moved to Corel, for a few reasons:

1. I get Photo-Paint x3 and Draw x3 for $400 ..
2. There is nothing that photoshop can do that Corel cannot. In fact,
there are things Corel can do that photoshop cannot.
3. Photoshop doesn't do vector .....you have to buy 'something' else
to do that
4. Photoshop price is 700$ and I'm not even sure how much Illistrator
costs

But anyhow.. yeah, it's what ever works for you. And for those of us that
actually buy our software. Price is a BIG feature. ;)

Paint.net doesn't run slow on my system.

however its not in the photoshop and corel draw class AT ALL! feature wise. Many important thins are missing, where are the unsharp mask for example? Even Paint Shop Pro is much ahead of paint.net when it comes to features.

Also tools like a "blur touch" where you can move your mouse and blur certain area are missing.

These are VERY basic things that i NEED to be able to retouch photo's, and use the tools in general.

Especially the adjust -> levels, curves and so on are VERY important.

I agree that it is slow (and bloated, as all .NET applications), but some functions are really good.
