Anyone here interested in contracts

Post by Dare2 »

This is a fishing expedition.

Is anybody here interested in contract programming (PureBasic)?

It is early times yet, but it is probable that in the near future we (my new business) will be contracting out small and large tasks. It is also a possibility that PureBasic will be the language required for these tasks.

I am keen to know if anyone here is interested, in a general sense.

As a secondary point of interest, I am also keen to hear any thoughts you might have on the matter. Any potential issues, fears, solutions to same, suggestions, and etc.

Yesterday and today I discussed some of the approaches we will be taking in the new venture with some of the people who will come on board. Those discussions prompted this post.

I will be discussing the same topics with the same people again, in about a week from now, and from your responses will, hopefully, know what stance to adopt.

If there is interest, if this is viable from a PureBasic angle, then perhaps in the longer term there will be some extra benefit from PureBasic for some people on these forums.

I'd be quite interested. I've already undertaken one, small, programming contract (using PB).

Generally, yes. I don't have much free time but depends on what sort of work
you'd want, and the price. :)
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Do you need any more information? Like what we're willing to work on, areas of expertise, amount of free time, email addresses (evil_grunger@hotmail.com)...etc?

Thanks everyone, this is encouraging and I appreciate you responding despite the question being so generalised.

At this point I can't be too specific because it is early days.

Even PureBasic's role in the venture is under discussion - it will be there because the initial product line is pure. But consider licencing for a business (seats -v- peeps) and also the difference in volume/quality as a response to an ad in the paper for C++ -v- PureBasic programmers. :)

Hence this fishing expedition. :)

I am pretty sure that any initial contract requests would be along the lines of "how much/how long for a module that does this", whatever this is, and then followed by some discussion on finer details. Later it may be hourly rates stuff, but not early on, that sort of stuff will be for employees to handle.

I’d be interested in contract work of this type. I definitely prefer PB to C, Java, VB, C++, Assembly, etc. I may even put together some contract oportunities of my own at some time.

This is great. Looks like there is a reasonable chance of Purists working with Purists down the track. :)

I spoke with some people this weekend and we'll be giving this a shot. We may even trial a few non-essentials a few times, just to get our side of the act a bit polished.
