Any GUI (wannabe) experts here?
What do you think? Do you have any qualified references? The star means "edited since last save". If it is not changed since the last save then there shouldn't be a star anywhere.
Re: Any GUI (wannabe) experts here?
Program Name - Document Name (no star on edited) is what I see everywhere.
I compile using 5.31 (x86) on Win 7 Ultimate (64-bit).

Notepad (Document Name - Program Name (no star on edited))
Paint (Document Name - Program Name (no star on edited))
MS Word (Document Name - Program Name (no star on edited))
Opera >v5 (Document Name - Program Name (can't edit so no star))
Internet Explorer (Document Name - Program Name (can't edit so no star))
Firefox (Document Name - Program Name (can't edit so no star))
Re: Any GUI (wannabe) experts here?
@Trond: Most of those are Microsoft apps, so you can't include them all, or
it's a biased selection. So, a fairer test would be one app per company. So
here's my list of some selected major and/or respected apps:
Program Name - Document Name (can't edit so no star)
DOSBox, VICE Emulator, Virtual PC, WinZip
Program Name - Document Name (no star on edited)
CorelDRAW, Paint Shop Pro, VirtualDub
Document Name - Program Name (can't edit so no star)
Firefox, Internet Explorer, WinRAR
At first glance, there seems to be no real pattern, until you look closer at the
purpose and functionality of each application listed:
Emulators seem to use Program Name - Document Name (can't edit so no star).
Graphic and design apps seem to use Program Name - Document Name (no star on edited).
Information apps seem to use Document Name - Program Name (can't edit so no star).
Interestingly, the two archiving apps -- WinZip and WinRAR -- both don't
seem to fit into the pattern I found. Strange! Anyway, maybe this is the
sort of "rule" that you are looking for? Works for me!
