PureBasic.com, PB4, time for a Gallery on the main webpage?
PureBasic.com, PB4, time for a Gallery on the main webpage?
Just curious. Even though PB4 is an RC/Beta, might it be a good idea to consider upgrading the Screenshots page to show the new stuff? Maybe consider adding a Gallery, a la BB?
Might not be quite the time yet, but I think it would be an excellent opportunity to introduce the Public to PureBasic version 4. While simplicity of design is nice, when people read about PB4 from a review somewhere and click the Homepage link, wouldn't it be great to have some real whizz-bang graphics shots or demo's showing what PB4 can do?
And before anyone says no, consider that Fred is working on PB fulltime, and the more -full- licenses he sells, the more he can continue such. Showing that PB can not only do apps, but also other stuff graphical in nature should be a goal. Maybe make a contest out of it?
Oh yeah, does Fred have anyone out scouring the net for future review sites? Aside from the standards like OSNews, etc, PB is perfect for hobbiest niche markets like Nuts and Volts. If there was a good PB terminal serial/terminal program available with source, you'd get quite a few customers from that one magazine. Or, get some benchmarks vs tradional languages like C/C++, Java, etc, and do something neat to get on Slashdot...
Maybe some time for PR/Marketing thinking?

i think pb4 still needs one more huge leap forward, mostly in the ide department, and it's ready for the world

Yes I totally agree, the PureBASIC team should setup a showcase to advertise what PureBASIC is capable of - and therefore sell a few more copies of a great product.
A small screenshot, a short description and a link to the programmer's site is all that is needed - game wise Lethal Judgement 3 should be one of the first.

Beside the point, that purebasic.com must be really updated and improved: there is already a PureBasic Showcase and also a Wiki.
You find it on www.PureArea.net

no, fred is not allowed to touch anything until he has fixed all the bugs in pb 4... and perhaps those in pb 4.01

There's a download on this page:Straker wrote:BTW, anyone have a copy of this RacingTest app? I have been dying to try it ever since I first saw PB.

Pure Racer is fun too!

If the main PureBasic page mentioned the price, a summary of its main features, some screen shots and a direct link to the forums i think that would be attractive.
