Having kids, pros and cons!!

Post by dagcrack »

Okey, we all know how nice kids are, we also know how annoying they can be... But when they are your own kids.. Maybe things gets different?, I don't know.. Im too young - for my believings (no, not religion) - to have kids... I'd say I'd need a more stable job if I want to have kids.. Apart from other reasons. But, Do you have kids? Has your life changed since them, For good?. You think you were already prepared for them? (I'd say no ones prepared for whats coming... but well..)

No, shes not pregnant.. :)
Just wondering.

Cheers

Maybe i'll slap myself for posting this things tomorrow... Its really offtopic.

I have been married approximately seven years to a great gal. *steps off podium*

We both did not want kids and still do not want kids. Which works for us. Some folks have actually told my wife, "how greedy"! If you can believe that. Then those same folks we see later on stressed out and they just don't know why. ;)

Just like driving a car, flying a plane, or being captain of a cruise liner is not for everyone... I feel it's the same way with kids.

Maybe this approach will help you make "the right choice":

1. hang out with friends that do have kids, for extended periods, even baby sitting for them! (ack!)

2. Become a Big Brother or equivalent in your area/country if such is available.

Finally, a decision based on several factors is best. Like the point you made about job concerns, which leads to money concerns, living arrangement(s), and on and on.

Just don't rush into it if you can at all help it! ;)

Well, I'm 28 now and have a 2 year old. Wasn't sure if I was ever going to have kids, at least that's what I thought when I was a teenager. Just because of the way I am. I like to be by myself when I want and bla bla bla. Now that I have a child, I wouldn't change a thing. Sure I don't get to do everything I want when I want but that's part of being a parent. It's pretty cool being a dad and in a few more years, I get to see my son play sports and get drawings from him that he made in school. My point is, I don't see a downside of having kids. Just think about it, a world with no kids would be more rude and crude. Kids keep us in line in a weird way. That probably gives you more info then you wanted. Cheers

I find an endless of pros of having kids
but...
I find 2 only and big clear cons for having kids:
- Need more stable job (which means more stable slavery for me :P )
- When they passed 5 years old.

Theres people that likes kids, and others that they don't seem to... But its up to them to have them or not. Although, I believe they should come by their own (No, its not by mistake...).

You also need to have that dad behavior.. or feeling at least, I know people that gets a child and its like a big weight for them... "Ohh.. I have to send him to the school at morning.. Ohh.. then get him back.. uhhh.. Then to his friend's house.. uhh then get him back again.. Uhhh" etc... (At his 5 - 10 years), worst for them when they are younger.. I think that if theres love, then there wouldnt be such a feeling... At least thats what I think right now, If you love him.. You would do anything for him/her. Although sometimes job issues.. family problems.. leads to "discharging" on someone, and that could be the child, who knows, maybe unconsciously by thinking hes a trouble...

But I'll wait a couple more years :) We don't want little kiddies running arround, unplugging my PCs yet. That would lead to a problem (and no, a UPS wouldnt help if they learn how to unplug other things than power cords!!)

Up to 10 I think you're ok.. then he will start bringing girls to his room, asking for your car keys... and drinking beer at your back! (well maybe some of those things.. I remember drinking beer for example). Ah that'd be a success.. but if he doesnt like beer ... you can wait till hes 15.. if he still doesnt like beer... You should check his room and find the problematic influences ¬¬

What if you have a girl?, shes 15... and brings her lil' boyfriend to home.. I bet his parents will sue you if you slap him a little just as advice.. But at least thats what you should feel like doing  Imagine the situation... Close to be the same when you have a sister... although this would be more intense situation

dagcrack,

Having kids is a wonderful, fulfilling, experience. I have one and another on the way.

However, don't expect to do much personal coding once you've got them. All of your home time will be spoken for.

That's a tounge twister. :D

Who you have them with makes a big difference. Make sure you find that right someone. Doesn't always happen though.

I am 27 and have 2 kids. We are planning to have 2 more kids by the time I am 30. With the way our luck is running, our last two kids will be girls. Before kids, I was all for having no kids. But them my wife came along and changed all of that.

I have found no cons with having kids. However, I have found tons of cons with having no kids .... For instance, have you ever noticed that most parents are more mature then those who have no kids? Responsibility is the key.

One CON is more money, but that is a con with everything you own or raise. Good news is you do not have to have a stable job, just a high paying unstable job.

As a conscious note:
Beware: Perhaps you all don't know about this fact: nowadays the world population is growing at a 1.9%/year rate; this means that there where now are 100 people, next year will be 101.9 people; and this means each 40 years the human population on earth is doubled; and this means that in year 2600 here would be more than 1 person per meter^2 of land.
Obviously, if who(se) take the reins of communities don't do something to limitate human natural births, at this rate, before year 2300 is mathemathically more than 95% probable that will be happened undesirable thing(s).

i had a "snip snip" operation about 6 months ago. i am 27 and since day one, have had no intention of procreating. my wife feels the same way, and i told her the week before our wedding that if she ever THOUGHT she might want kids, shed better back out now. i even told her that if she changes her mind, just bring me the divorce papers and all will be ok. the law doesnt even require in florida to have spousal consent. i told her i was going, went, and spend 2 days at home resting.

people keep telling me when she hits 29-30, her mind will change and she will make my life a living hell with that "mother instict". her parents will barely speak to me now they are so irate about me getting fixed. many people do not like the decision i made and call me selfish. when it comes to my money, time, career, and education, i am very selfish. and i never wanted a child to interfere with that.
