Future?!
Hey guys,
I was just wandering what you think: this century there will be at least 2 technolgically breaktroughs. The first quantum-pc and the first light-pc, only which one will come first 8O ? That's my question.
Greetz,

Check this if you want to know more about optical transistors.

Already drunk? - though there are quite a few hours to 2005?Dreglor wrote:quatom computers sound father than light, becasue they can do quantom computinh now but the problem is now is that it would be the size of house (ironic isn't it?)

We will see what the future brings and which technology wins the race. Perhaps someone will find the key to the string-theory, making even more complex computers possible. Who knows!? In the link given above the author makes an interesting prediction "in 5 - 6 years computers or parts are replaced by photonic transistors" - that was in 1992 when I decipher the title of the magazine right

quantum computers are the next step. scientists recently were able to "teleport" an atom about a billionth of a meter away, that is, copy the atom and reconstruct it a short distance away WITHOUT destroying the original atom. it is the first step to quantum computing. electrons are inevitably bound by special and general reletivity, however, the quantum universe cannot be reconciled with reletivistic principle. (called grand unification theory). quantum computers will use the "spin" of particles and the seemingly faster than light movement of almost massless particles to drive the architecture. in short, take all the computers in the world today, and just ONE quantum computer would still be faster.

If you invent a REAL working photonic transistor now, you will get a Physichs Nobel.The_CodeMaster wrote:Check this if you want to know more about optical transistors.

Well, the story has to end somewhere...euh, a new version of red alert? now that's a major breaktrhough
Did you ever played Generals?
Btw: C&C, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, Firestorm, RA2, Youris revenge, Generals and even the FPS Renegade are all part of the Command & Conquer saga.

Edit: O yes forgot Zero hour
